WORSHIP ARTIST CASEY J RELEASES NEW ALBUM, “THE GATHERING”
By Petrina J. Johnson
Debuting on the scene four years ago with her first project entitled, “The Truth,” Christian recording artist Casey J is back bringing listeners another awesome worship experience.
Known for expressing a love for God through her powerful vocals, the Atlanta native‘s sophomore project, “The Gathering,” released on Jan. 25, is sure to help you enter into His presence. This time Casey took a unique approach when recording the album by choosing an outdoor venue.
She invited 50 of her friends to meet up at a farm outside of Atlanta with one agenda, to worship God. Casey’s motivation behind the different recording style stemmed from a scripture in the bible.
“The inspiration for this project mostly comes from Acts 4:31 which states, ‘that when they prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together and they were filled with the Holy Spirit’,” she said. “Oftentimes people believe it is the lights and sound in church productions bringing us into the presence of God; but this verse in Acts shows us He is not limited to a traditional Sunday church service, the place was shaken where they were gathered.”
Coming together to uplift the name of Jesus is second nature for the Stellar Award winning artist. Casey grew up singing in the choir and is the worship pastor at a local church in Georgia. The former elementary teacher is now a full time recording artist.
“I have grown so much spiritually since my last project and mostly because I am more available to God,” she shared. “It is not about who can do this the best, because today they are coming out of the womb being able to sing, but it is all about availability to Him. ”
Availability to God has kept the worship singer on the right path despite the highs and lows of the music industry. The first project “The Truth,” which featured one of the best gospel hits in history, ‘Fill Me Up,” was very successful. The song spent several weeks at #1 on Billboard Magazine Gospel.
Success for the first album however is not pressuring her to have the same favorable outcome for “The Gathering.” The two times Dove Award nominee believes whatever God did once, He can and will do it again.
“A lot of times when we experience success we try to hold on to it because we don’t think another one is coming. We feel just because God did something amazing before he is not willing to do something amazing again; God is breathing something new in me and the success is it is Him, whether several people know about it or three people know it, it is all inspired by Him,” Casey explained.
Being inspired by Him has led Casey to make sure her music reflects her lifestyle. Her personal testimony is not one particular thing Jesus has done for her, but knowing God’s promises will come to pass.
“God is consistent in my life and has not yet failed me; His word is and always will be true.”
