The Jace is a FREE publication, which debuted in Houston in 2008. It is designed to help believers have a closer relationship with Christ and unbelievers to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Our publication contains testimonies of people all over world sharing what God has done in their lives – sharing the goodness of Jesus helps others know that they are not the only ones who have experienced painful trials.
The Jace Magazine has a two-fold mission. The first one is to provide a free spiritual publication to the community containing testimonials from people all over the country. We want to encourage others. Our company produces a magazine but also gives back to the community.
We host two annual events, The Jace Holiday Event and our Back-to-School Extravaganza. The holiday event consist of the organization providing Christmas presents to low-income families who cannot afford to buy gifts for their children.
Our back to school events includes backpacks being donated to schools and families in the local area who cannot afford to purchase school supplies. The organization strives to continue helping the less fortunate through donations and support from others.
Our goal is to give back to the community and encourage everyone to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior.
The Jace CEO
Petrina J. Johnson was born in Los Angeles and raised in Marshall, Texas. She is the last child of Walter Lee Johnson and LaRose Swain Hodges. Her father raised four children, where Petrina was the fourth child, after her mother left the family when Petrina was a baby.
At six- years old Petrina met her mother for the first time but growing up she knew only her father and his side of the family well. She graduated Marshall High School in 1991 and in 1994 she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. While attending Clark Atlanta University in 1996 Petrina began to learn about God on a personal level. It was at CAU she discovered that God love her and wanted to talk to her daily.
After dealing with several hardships over the years in Atlanta, Petrina became discouraged in her walk with Christ. Not knowing her calling she continued to struggle with her divine purpose. In 2003 she finished school at Georgia State University with a B. A. in PR Journalism. Later that year she returned home to her hometown to figured out what she would do with her degree.
Coming back to Marshall allowed Petrina to mediate on Christ however with several distractions she became depressed. It was during her period of depression Petrina decided she did not want to pursue a career in Journalism, but the Holy Spirit continued to talk to her. Running from God’s voice Petrina became pregnant with her first child, Jacelyn Marie Miles. Jacelyn was born in 2007 and despite the struggle of being a single mother Petrina was inspired.
Towards the end of 2007 God gave Petrina a vision to help other people come to Christ. It was not the first time the Holy Spirit had spoken to Petrina about starting a publication. In January 2008 The Jace debut in Houston and was Petrina’s daughter who inspired the magazine.
Petrina said after the publication debut, “I named the magazine after my daughter Jacelyn because she is the reason for everything I do. She brings me so much joy and I know God gave her to me just like he gave me the vision of the magazine.”
